Affiliate disclosure

Drink Tea Hub uses affiliate links in some of its posts. This is at no additional cost to you and helps us continue to offer free content on our site. We only recommend products and services that we have personally used and continue to stand by.

These will always be clearly marked as such with the following paragraph at the top of the post:

Disclosure: Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, we will earn a commission if you click through and purchase. Adverts are marked as such and are provided by Google and Amazon. Read our full affiliate, advertising and privacy policy here.

And the following at the end of the post:

Disclosure: Some of the links above are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, we will earn a commission if you click through and purchase. Adverts are marked as such and are provided by Google and Amazon. Read our full affiliate, advertising and privacy policy here.

What are affiliate links?

Purchases are made on external affiliate company websites. When a reader clicks on an affiliate link located on Drink Tea Hub to purchase an item, the reader buys the item from the seller directly (not from Drink Tea Hub). Amazon and other companies pay Drink Tea Hub a small commission or other compensation for promoting their website or products through their affiliate program. If you are interested in affiliate marketing you can find out all about it by following this link to the Wealthy Affiliate website.

Prices are exactly the same for you if your purchase is through an affiliate link or a non-affiliate link. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link.

We use two main types of affiliate programs:

1. Amazon affiliate links

Drink Tea Hub is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon properties including, but not limited to, amazon.com and amazon.co.uk. Amazon offers a small commission on products sold through their affiliate links. This means that sometimes if you click on a link or an image, it will take you to the Amazon website. If you purchase something fulfilled by Amazon within 24 hours, Drink Tea Hub will get a commission from that sale at no extra cost to you.

2. ShareASale, FlexOffers and CJ Affiliate Program links
These affiliate links work in the same way: if you click the link and buy the product, Drink Tea Hub gets a percentage of the sale.  Again, prices are not different if you use these affiliate links. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link. These links are not “pay per click”, unless otherwise denoted.

In general, we do not write sponsored posts because we want to bring you real, unbiased information. However, if a post is sponsored by a company and it is a paid sponsorship, this will be disclosed clearly at the beginning of the post.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

We will never sell your data. We may share your information with third parties if and only if you explicitly authorize us to share your information.

Additionally, the Website may use third-party service providers to service various aspects of the Website. Each third-party service provider’s use of your personal information is dictated by their respective privacy policies.

The Website currently uses the following third-party service providers:

Google Analytics – This service tracks Website usage and provides information such as referring websites and user actions on the Website. Google Analytics may capture your IP address, but no other personal information is captured by Google Analytics.

Your personal information is not shared with any other third-party applications.

Except when required by law, we will distribute, or reveal your email addresses or other personal information without your consent; however, we may disclose or transfer personal information collected through the Website to third parties who acquire all or a portion of our business, which may be the result of a merger, consolidation, or purchase of all or a portion of our assets, or in connection with any bankruptcy or reorganization proceeding brought by or against us.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Sensitive personal information

At no time should you submit sensitive personal information to the Website. This includes your social security number, information regarding race or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health information, criminal background, or trade union memberships. If you elect to submit such information to us, it will be subject to this Privacy Policy.
